Autobiography: My experience with my issue of educational inequity is that when I was in elementary school my parents and I went through the stress of trying to organize an entrance test and figure out finances because the public school system was so much worse than the private school systems.  That’s when the issue was so apparent since families worse off than we were also dealing with the same issues.

Discipline: Looking at this from a computer science standpoint I see it as structured as I can.  The statistics and logic of it makes the issue apparent that the entire situation is so unfair to the local population.

Community: The issue is one discussed thoroughly by families and groups on the island dedicated to changing the education situation in Hawaii.  I remember multiple protests on the island of Oahu where people were demanding the state legislature to make educational reforms.  The issue has created online protests as well and I believe these to have helped cause the slow changes that are beginning in Hawaii.

Media: Outside the Hawaiian Islands this issue is seldom known.  Mass media of the mainland doesn’t cover it and so there is also seldom help and support for the issue.  The only media that does cover it is local media, and therefore it’s another reason that progress fixing the issue is slow.

Observation: What I’ve noticed is that the most of what I’ve described relates to how isolated the issue is. Being cut off rom most mass media, the issue will gather little attention and therefore the solution will also come slow.
